Your puppy will and is suppose to get into everything she can. My Suzi still does , and she is over a year old.
The problem with the "teaching" method your finace is using is negative reinforcment. This is going to produce a fearful dog in the long run, and a hand shy little yorkie. She may not trust people, and will have a hard time socially. create all kinds of issues down the road for your littlle Yorkie. AND, also make her aggressive.
Imangine, a great big hand coming down on a 2-4 lb sized you? it is never right to use physical punishment, no matter what.
Clean the mess up your puppy makes, she will continue doing it, and try puppy proofing your home better. Do not allow your Fiance or anybody to spank, or strike your puppy. This should never be tolerated. I would be laying down the rules , and sticking to them ... What if he accidently spanked her too hard?
