The idea to get a book and to read it together is a real good one. You and your fiance have to learn and so does your puppy.
Dogs and especially Yorkies are very smart and eager to please, so everything you acknowledge makes an imprint in the brain and every positive imprint is way more effective than a negative one.
So... if you (or your fiance) punish your puppy when she does something 'wrong' that will stick but probably in a way you didn't intend and not as much as if you praise everything she does right. Punishment is not to confuse with discipline (that's what Ceasar does with his taps.)
Maybe you could play with her 'leave it!' Put a paper or Kleenex in front of her and keep her from taking it by gently blocking her to get to it and the command 'leave it!'. When she does good give her a tiny bit of treat and praise her, if not start all over without paying any attention to the 'mistake'. You'll see she's going to learn really fast...
Besides that, maybe your fiance can learn 'leave her' too and just clean the little mess up... Shredding paper and stealing Kleenex is just soooooooo much fun!!!!!
