I use baby shampoo on my puppies faces. It is tearfree and gentle. I also found that an eyebrow comb works wonders on their faces. The ones with a small comb on one side and a brush on the other that comes with makeup brush kits. It is very small and when the hair is wet the crusties just slide off nicely in the comb. I usually wet the hair with cotton balls and then comb it out daily.
