I use blunt end scissors to avoid accidents. I think pups are, initially, curious about the scissors. Let them get used to the scissors before you use them. Spend a couple of days on this or however long it takes. You can let them sniff , etc. the scissors. You can put them near their face, but don't trim. Wait until they are tired & in a relaxed mode before trimming.
