Hello and welcome,
Just picture his size and you can imagine how small his tummy is. I doubt he will eat as much as the can directs. They normally eat until full then stop (with wet food) I leave dry food down all the time because when they play they use up so many calories and he will be able to keep his bloodsugar in balance if he can free feed. He will basically drink when thirsty but if you notice his urine is very dark then he is not drinking enough and you might need to se if you can get him to eat ice or ck with the vet.
