Cindy Fern-King wrote to me the following regarding the different colors:

"The blue or green brush are actually softer than the black. There are two black brushes one has a black pad that is made for a coated dog. The one with the orange pad is made for terriers and that type of coat. If you are looking for a very soft brush blue or green is the color you need. the black falls in the middle for tension on the pins for the colored Madan brushes."

She recommended the Blue for a silky long-coated Yorkie. That is the one I ordered. Since she has been selling them and explains a difference in the colors, I thought I would pass it along.
