On photobucket - you do have to save to your album, in case the image is later deleted from photobucket. If saved to your album, it will always be present wherever you post it. But if you don't save it, and then it is deleted from photobucket, which often happens, then it shows up as a deleted message on the page and the cute graphic is no longer there. This won't always happen, but it happens enough that I always save to my album before posting on someone's profile page.
of course, maybe photobucket has changed and saving to the album is no longer necessary, idk, but this is the way it was in the past.
