there are 2 parts to this command.
1. do command
2. release command

1. make your dog do sit, give treat. next say stay showing your palm like how you say "stop" to an incoming traffic at your face!

you dog will think "what the heck are you doing" because you didn't teach the command yet!

here's how you teach. if your dog tries to move, say "no or uh!" the moment your dog flinches. if you dog is up put the dog back to sit and say stay~ with your palm up.

2. to release the dog from the command, say "OK! or whatever you want with excited tone" and show a gesture to come with treat. I usually waive my arm inwards.

Increase stay time gradually. =)

key) say no or uh and stop the dog's movement from stay command as the dog flinches and put the dog back to stay position.

you can do this with down position too.

practice 5times at a time, 3 times a day, now your dog knows stay.
