$2000 is quite a high price, but if you are purchasing from a very reputable breeder with excellent quality stock, it will be worth it. Just becuase the dog is priced at 2000 doesn't mean it's a well-bred dog. Neither does it mean a reputable breeder. I've seen BYBs price their dogs higher. However, dogs that are well-bred from good bloodlines may be priced that high...but not always.
AKC papers don't guarantee anything of quality...they only prove it purebred. even puppymills sell AKC registered dogs.
