I grow tomatoes in containers each year. Yes...you do need drainage holes in the bottom and a sunny location. I use miracle grow on mine and they do great! I also do many flower containers and they turn out beautiful. If you plant some cascading flowers that come down the sides, the pot won't show much and people will only notice the beautiful flowers.
