Maybe the dog has some bad teeth. The original owner may not have taken care of the poor dog.
Have you taken he/she to the vet and had their teeth checked out?
Max had bad breath when his baby teeth were not falling out and our Persian cat had bad breath because she needed some teeth pulled (she was 7 yrs).
