I would be so nervous to leave him home that I probably wouldn't have any fun, so what's the point. I would worry about fires, chocking, or boredom. (Of course, there could be a fire or he could chock while I'm at work).
Most hotels have a 6p day of arrival cnx policy. Is it possible to cancel and rebook at another hotel that is pet friendly? If a housekeeper sees signs that a dog has been in the room, and reports it, they can charge you. (Could be up to $200.00!!!!!)
Keep in mind that most hotels that are pet friendly only offer smoking rooms if you have a pet, and are usually (3 star) Holiday Inn type properties. (Depending on the city, you may be able to find a 4/5 star pet friendly hotel).
Good luck!!
