When I was in high school my best friend had her yorkie picked up and carried away by a hawk!
I wasn't with her at the time but OMG I still can remember how awful it was to hear her tell the story of how one minute her little girl was there and the next she was chancing it as the hawk flew away with her dog crying. It was horrible and I still have it burned into my memory. BTW I live in the Southwestern suburbs of Chicago not the middle of the country so it can happen anywhere!
