Hi everyone,
Yes I was looking for a yorkie. I was looking for several months. When I found her (online) her owner said that she was a purebred yorkie and they couldn't care for her anymore. When I went to meet her I was just so overwhelmed with finally finding a dog that I wasn't really thinking properly, and completely forgot about what I was really looking for.
I don't think she is ugly, she just wasn't what I was expecting, especially because I thought she was a yorkie. Her previous owner still thinks shes a purebred yorkie, and unfortunately they believed the pet store. I was a bit surprised at how big she actually was once I got her home.
As for the tail and unspayed thing- I didn't know what was proper procedure, and now that I know its the equivalent of amputation I would NEVER get that done. There is obviously no need to hurt her. Getting spayed however is another story, and unfortunately I think its a necessary thing to do, as I am not capable of dealing with a pregnant dog. As for her temperment, I was reading about how another one of the awful things that pet stores do is take the babies away from their mother at such a young age that they don't learn about what is relatively acceptable behavior. After spending some time with her, I can see she's pretty smart, she just doesn't know anything- like a baby. So slowly working with her I can see I will be a MUCH better mother to her and let her have a great life.
She had an appt with the vet and things are going much more smoothly. Sorry I offended people here, I was just freaking out because I had literally just gotten her and didn't know what to do. I really am thankful tho- bc you all answered so quickly. Thanks everyone! |
