I don't think the tape bothers them until one of the other puppies tries to take off their tape. I very gentlely remove the tape and evaluate if we need to reshave and retape ears. Usually ears only need to be taped for about 2 weeks. Sometimes when they are a little older 4-5 months and teething, you might have to tape them again for a short while.
