From what I've read, it's not the beef hide itself that is bad for dogs, it's the fact that a rather large piece may not be easily digestible. There are some companies that are making a pulverized rawhide that is said to be safe, because the pulverized pieces are so tiny; they can't possible cause an obstruction. I'm not familiar with this product, so I don't know if this is the case, but from what I've read those products made from pulverized rawhide are said to be safe, and considered 100% digestible. If it's not 100% digestible, I wouldn't use it.
