As far as the barking, do you cover the crate with a blanket making it darker? We do that with of our dogs overnight. Then they know it is just bedtime and not that we are leaving them for awile. I wonder if that would help him know that he will have to try harder to hold it til morning. When we first brought our YorkiePoo home he was a little under 5 months old. He held it all night but would dribble all the way downstairs to go out and potty. The only bad part of that was I carry him down so that he does not stop and squat inside! I went thru lots of jamas but now he can make it all the way outside without peeing on me.

Good luck and have patience. His time will come too.
