We don't have any dog parks around me and yesterday was gorgeous and warm 60 degrees (unheard of for a March day in Connecticut). I decided that I would take Piper to the beach which is a state park with bike paths and a boardwalk. Arrived at the beach and you would think it was a summer afternoon the parking lots were jammed. Since there were so many people I decided to walk on the bike paths. It was fun watching all the people walking by with such a great variety of dogs. A little way down the path I noticed a guy walking his doberman on one of those long retractable leashes. He pulled in the leash a little and I decided I would give him a lot of space. I get closer and all of a sudden the dobie starts running towards me and the dumb guy isn't pulling him in. I scoop up Piper and the dog is right there in front of me. Now the dog isn't acting aggressive just excited. The dobie is jumping for Piper and wrapping it's lead all around me a few times. So everytime it jumps the lead pulls tighter around me. Then I realize the guy thinks this is funny and he is drunk. It's 1:00 in the afternoon. Finally the guy gets me untangled and says the dog just wanted to play. As if I would let that crazy dog play with my 5lb baby. Just thought I would vent. I'm still angry over that incident.
