I have a couple concerns and dont know if it is just his age or if i should be concerned. Here is a list of my concerns:
1. diarrhea (with a little solidity)
- i'm feeding him wet eukanuba puppy food
- i took him to vet and doc looked at a sample of stool and didnt find any worms. I also have given him worming medicine and have checked each stool and no worms in them.
2. cloudy eyes
3. scratching ears
- vet says ears arent open yet
4. shakes
5. hypoglycemia
- vet didnt seem to be worried about it
6. sneezing and runny nose
7. tiny rash around penis
I know this seems like a lot of and i'm probably just a worried 1st timer parent, but i just want to make sure my little man is healthy! Can anyone help me out? |
Did your vet check for coccidia.....very hard to diagnose.....but, it is a possibility. Puppies are prone to it, especially if under stress. Albon is the prescribed medicine...However, it cannot be taken with any other antibiotic.
1. Usually keep my pups on puppy food zapped with warm goats milk. But, I don't do this until about 7 weeks of age. If he's lapping do goats milk equal parts of distilled water and add Gerbers rice ceral. At room temperature
Also, try whelping pudding
12 ounces water warmed in micro wave add plain knox geletin
add 1 12 ounce can of evaperated milk
beat in 2 egg yolks
2 tablespoons of Light Karo Syrup
Chill in refrigerator until it sets up give about 1 or to Tablespoons
2. Not sure about the cloudy eyes.
3. Ears, did he check for mites/infection.
4. Pups can't retain body temp, are you keeping him in a warm area.
5. Hypoglycemia - do you have nutri-cal or nutri drops....at this young age, he should be eating about 5 times a day. I would supplement him with goats milk and equal parts of distilled water; by bottle. He's way too young to even be weaned....
6. Sneezing and runny nose; did your vet put him on an antibiotic.
7. Keep him clean with baby wipes. He should still be with mother, who would still be diapering him and keeping him clean.....if it doesn't clear up, I'd have vet look at him again and possibly check his urn and/or prescribe a triple antibiotic. You should be diapering him with a wet warm cotton ball.....on his penis as well as helping him empty his bowels.
