Just a heads up about Kona's Chips.....
We had two Maltese on another forum get sick recently (vomiting & diarrhea) after eating Kona's Chips. They have just become a paid advertiser and they were free samples. Apparently, they can spoil if they aren't refrigerated quickly. One member's samples arrived while they were out of town so they sat in the mailbox for a day. Another did refrigerate them, but she lives on the East Coast and they ship from California. Another member said she had a bag that got moldy.
The vet who treated one of the dogs recommended contacting the company and suggesting that they clearly state on the outside of the package that they need to be kept cool and are perishable to protect them during transit. Since both these episodes happened during the winter, I'm not sure how they could be safely mailed in the warmer weather.
Just to be clear, these are isolated incidents and most people haven't had a problem, but it is something to be aware of. |
