I travel by car or I don't go. I have my places that I like to stay that are dog friendly and generally have kitchens so I don't have to eat out and leave my girls alone. If I am traveling alone, I put them in the stroller, cover it with a blanket and take them into the restroom with me. No one is the wiser. The few people that have figured it out just smile and say "I would do the same if my dog would fit in that!" I refuse to leave them alone in the car, especially in the summer when it is hot. Rest areas should have pet friendly rest rooms, like airports have family restrooms. If necessary I find a Petco to stop at as they generally have public restrooms. You just find ways of making do. It is so worth it!
