if you have lost a pet, one of the best idea's and sometimes works is to send a photo of your animal with as much info as you can, to the kansas gas service meter reading department.
we are always crawling all over wichita/augusta/andover/park city/ haysville/ rosehill/ goddard/ maize/ derby, going in and out of yards, alleys, dirt roads... you name it. every now and then someone sends a photo with info to our dept. and it gets tacked up on the corkboard so everyone sees it.
it may or may not help you with finding the animal, but its better than nothing.

That is a really good idea! Send the photo to all utility companies your area including cable/internet hook up places and even pest control companies - my hubby is in pest control and he's always seeing animals inside and out of the home.
