Duke does the same thing also everytime my neighbors come and go. Since our front door are almost next to each other, I feel really bad especially in the middle of the night.
Since my bedroom and kitchen are further from the door than the living room, I use the gate and gate him away from the livingroom so that he'll just stay with me during the nite. I also squeak a toy to get his attention when he barks.
We also tried the coins in the bottle, the water spray versus the spray collar and none has worked with him so far.
