If you decide to try it, I suggest you slowly incorporate it into your dogs diet. A quick change could result in stomach issues and loose stools. I also supplement the raw meat with a mixture of brussels sprouts, green beans, broccoli, cauliflower and a clove of garlic, which I puree in a food processor. She absolutely loves it. Once your dog's health is back to normal, you might have luck with adding coconut oil to the diet. Go slowly with that though. Too much can make your dog (as well as humans) very sick. I only give a teaspoon a day. Coconut oil is know for balancing out any issues with the immune system. Very healing. These things seemed to have helped my dog, but your case may be different. Wait until you see a doctor. I recommend Dr. Donna Spector. She is a veternary internist. 212-213-9885 She deals with IBS in pets, etc. I have only been to her once (Lulu's problem was due to colitis and once that cleared up, she was fine. There was no need to go back). I would go to her instead of a regular vet because she specializes in this stuff. I've seen her get interviewed by Ellen DeGeneres so I would say she's pretty respected in her field. Good luck and I hope your dog gets back to good health quickly. |
