I think the parvo vaccination is absolutely necessary but as was stated before, timing is essential.

New Vaccine Protocol, Puppy Shots and Why Outdated Schedule Does Not Work! TheDogPlace Project: Vaccines!

The following is from the above website

Quote:
Puppies receive antibodies through their mother’s milk. This natural protection can last 8-14 weeks. Puppies & kittens should NOT be vaccinated at LESS than 8 weeks. Maternal immunity will neutralize the vaccine and little protection (0-38%) will be produced.

Vaccination at 6 weeks will, however, DELAY the timing of the first highly effective vaccine.

Vaccinations given 2 weeks apart SUPPRESS rather than stimulate the Immune system.
Those unknowledgeable breeders that continue to vaccinate puppies under 8 weeks are creating a false security for puppy buyers. I was at my vets today and they said they have been seeing lots of parvo in puppies lately. One reason puppies are more susceptible is because stress lowers their immune system allows the parvo to manifest itself. Weaning and going to a new home is a very stressful period for a puppy and that is another reason yorkie puppies should not be sold at a young age. Also the puppy buyer must understand that the puppies should not be allowed on the ground until they have received all their vaccinations.
