I think they can.
Ellie's vet just goes ahead when something is just barely out of reference range but I don't know how high something would have to be for her to tell me first. Of course if I asked her to read me all irregularities before surgery she would.
And there are other reasons that he could be drinking excessively like diabetes insipidus. It isn't necessarily LS.
Some symptoms would be seizures, circling, head pressing, drooling, blindness, diarrhea, vomiting, medication reactions, lethargy, inappetance, etc. Or no symptoms at all.
