Alberta is a beautiful province! If you find yourself in that part of the world, do yourself a favour and spend a few days in Banff.

I've never been out and about in Montreal. I stopped in the airport once, but that's about it. I once planned a trip across Canada and up in the territories, by bus, staying at hostels throughout... I regret now that I didn't do that when I had the chance.
More on your side of the continent, I'd recommend a trip to Nova Scotia as well! I went there for a couple weeks when I was younger, and it's really an amazing place. The people there (and all along the east coast) are definitely among the nicest Canadians there are. ^_^
