These will help in preventing more breakage. Other than that...not putting her hair up everyday will help in new growth.

Good advice. Also, I like to use the little cloth covered kind of bands. I think they're scrunchie brand, found them in the baby section at Walmart. These don't seem as harsh on the hair.
