Everyone will have a different idea of what is "best" so it is really hard to say- but there are some guidelines when looking at dog food labels.
Stay away from any food that has "bi products" as ingredients- these are parts of animals that are not fit for human consumption- so you dont' want your pup eating it!
Make sure at least the first, if not first two, ingredients are meat.
Stay away from any food containing corn- our pups tend to be allergic to it.
Look for "good starches" potato, brown rice....
If i was feeding kibble (i home cook for Layla)- i would probably go with Nature's Variety or Orijen.
Make sure when you make the transition to do it slowly- your pup might have af ew days of loose poops but that is normal
