Mine does this too, she stopped when we changed her food. But then again when we changed it she started again. I think she does it out of boredom when we are away all day long. She won't do it when we are at home.
It's touch on a yorkie to be 10 hours a day on its own.
This may be the problem, if you have relatives, who would watch her during the day when you are away, it would probably help. When I am at home with her she never does it, just when we are out all day.
I also try to break the habit, but it's hard.
