It's really awesome with containing the smell, the only time I smell it is when I open it to put another pad in. I just spray a bit of air freshner and it's good to go. I used a diaper genie when I used disposables. They are wonderful!
That won't help the OP, though. She wants to know what to do with the washable pads.
