This is my experience too. I don't wash them everyday because Tink goes outside too and only uses them at night or if she really can't wait for me to get to the door. Folding them in fourths seems to be the trick. I don't smell them until I open them to put them in the wash. I usually do two or three at a time. I do also add some enzyme (Simple Solution or Nature's Miracle) to the rinse cycle which helps them smell nice when they come out of the dryer.
