Don't worry, I'm sure an "I told you so" is looming somewhere in the near future for you. |  I agree 110%. Don't be so hard on yourself, you are protecting your puppies. Its frustrating when you try to teach/inform someone something and they don't listen for what ever reason. Best of luck to you!
