The only concerns I could think of would be comfort-- it might be a little odd-feeling... Ooh, and would you have to have your diamond resized so that it would fit again? (since it's going to have something extra that takes away from the original diameter?) Of course, maybe your jeweler could flatten it a bit as it's wrapped.

Thank you - I will still have two rings, I ordered a new plain gold band - but you are right I want the original band to wrap around the new one.
