I know my girl looked cute when she had it droopy at first (when she still had her puppy coat), but also knew that I would regret it if I never tried to make sure they stood before it was too late because that's just the look I fell in love with years ago when I decided that I wanted a yorkie one day for myself. I know she now looks her best with them not flopping. Occassionally her weaker left ear would flop but at least it only happens very rarely and it just reminds me each time how much I do like her with both ears proudly standing. She's not good with carrying off the floppy look. Her ears are too small for that and maybe it's also the colouring. I also like the fact that her ears can breathe, though it also means it can get more dirt and water/rain inside.
I do agree with you...some dogs can have the ears down and still look cute while others don't. My first Yorkie did not look good with his ears down. He had dumbo ears and they looked so much better up. Emme's have always been down and they are so petite along with her and she can carry it off. I just love it and I have held them up and they don't look good on her little face. She is still only 3.5 lbs as of yesterday.
