Some of the dog food manufacturers have been experiencing shortages in specific ingredients-- Royal Canin sent a letter to my workplace a few weeks back apologizing for back orders in their venison products due to shortages in venison. According to the letter, a lot of ranchers have been switching off venison production due to increasing costs. I'm sure if shortages are impacting RC, they must be impacting other pet food producers too. I've heard people mention similar shortages in rabbit recently... perhaps that might account for some of the jump in prices?

I haven't noticed a big jump in Penny's food in the last year-- it's still about $12 a bag.
