I would definately consider belly bands for his potty issues....and like others have said taking them on walks together is one of the easiest ways for dogs to get to know each other....and realize that YOU are pack leader...not the "bulldog"...or the newest pack member.....
And it will definately take time....a week is not enough...GOOD LUCK!!!
