Wow! The 12 years really surprised me!! Thanks for the info...it makes sense that the AKC has rules about ages of sires and dams. And now that you say that, I must have read on here before that some prefer to wait til sires are 6 or 7 before using them. Makes a LOT of sense, too, to wait until a dog is finished showing.....all really great things for me to keep in mind when I start really looking for my next puppy (later this year hopefully
