I just stumbled on this thread. Hmmmm - my Bailey goes once a day and always has. Sometimes in the a.m. and sometimes in the p.m. - that part varies - but only once a day.
I feed her once at 5:30 a.m. and then again at 5:00 p.m. and of course, she gets some treats inbetween.
