Canned I/D isn't that bad and it is much better than allowing soft stool to contiinue and allowing him to dehydrate.
It looks like it could be appropriate for long-term feeding. The way to determine that is to see if it is AAFCO approved. Otherwise it may be lacking in something that a healthy dog needs or have too much of something that they don't need. However, just because he doesn't have a diagnosis doesn't mean there isn't a medical problem that he needs this food for. I would continue with it if you are having a hard time finding something else. I would not stop the Chicken Soup and feed this solely unless your vet clears it.
It is possible that the protein, fat or fiber % in the other foods you've tried is not optiminal for him or one of the ingredients may be causing him irritation. If you want to feed a different food, you can always try something novel.
