Amish mills are Indiana's dirty little secret and they need to be stopped and if hard legislation is what needs to be done them so be it.
We have to get our show dogs somewhere. So we breed our own. Sometimes it takes more than one litter in one year to get a show potential puppy. Maybe we have an opportunity to breed to a certain stud and we breed more than one female. Last year I didnt even breed a litter. This year I hope to breed 3 litters. I certainly dont make a huge profit by doing this. And I dont feel like I am a "commercial" breeder either.Nor should I be labeled as one with this poorly written legislation.
I have never even been to Indiana. I am sure it must be horrible knowing what is probably in those buildings. We have our problems in Az too. Where you have mills, we have tons of bybers. One byber in Tucson had 800 dogs in their mobile home. That is probably our biggest mill. We were also the hardest hit in the housing economy and people are loosing their homes right and left. Alot of their pets are ending up in shelters or they move and just leave the dog locked in the house only to be found weeks later dead. Its all so over-whelming.
