I think that maybe where she was, she was ignored and not loved. Now she is trying to make up for all the neglect she has endured! The more secure she becomes in her new environment, the less she will have a need to be "affectionate." I know you said you have had her for nine months, hopefully the more she knows you are not going anywhere, and that she is safe forever, her "affectionate" behavior will even out.
