I go really close to the skin on the ears but I use a very small 5/8 blade. I like a nice clean V shape ear on a Yorkie. That blade shouldnt make a butcher job out of an ear unless I WANTED it too or was not grooming properly. Maybe that groomer was blind!! Or the wrong size blade was used.
