No you expect someone to call with info on your pet, not a prank. I would have told the PD I expected them to follow up the call with a visit to see if my dog was actually there. Who's to say it's not? If it is you get him back, if not her parents are notified of her making prank calls to someone who already has a serious issue to deal with. It's not right for their daughter to make light of it.
