Fortunately, I haven't had this problem - but I have seen it on tv several times.

Distracting the dog's attention away from the source seems to be the #1 way to fix this - then reward for good behavior. I wouldn't pick up the dog and go inside - by doing this you've only managed the one time situation.

I would firmly and confidently get between your dog and the source, then demand her attention. Once you get her attention, immediately reward. The attention might be a quick glance your way - once you see that glance then immediately (and i mean immediately) say "yes" (or some other key word)and follow with a treat. Don't let the quick glance get away - watch for it. Gradually increase the time span between attention and acknowledgement and then eventually drop the treats, as this should be expected behavior.
