I would really discuss this with your vet and make a informed decision!

I live in rural upstate NY, we have rabbits, foxes, skunks, raccoons, deer and coyotes that frequent my land. The lepto here is routine and needed. All of my dogs, including my 4 pound poodle and my 5 pound 5 month old yorkiepoo pup has had it and none of them have had a reaction to it
Thankfully... Yes, its a very powerful shot and can cause a reaction in some dogs, however not every dog has an reaction to it. Its just like the rabies shot, some reactive bad, some dont, but its needed. I would rather have my dogs vaccinated, then worrying about them getting a virus that can kill them. I will take my chances. If they were ever to have a reaction to it, then of course I wouldnt do it again but untill then I will continue to have them vaccinatedfrom it.
Im sorry to hear that the pup ended up so ill. ((hugs))
