That's really the ideal way to do it. With food allergies in humans, they tell you to wait five days before eating the same things again to avoid developing antibodies that will trigger an allergic reaction.

That would work with canned food, too. I guess with kibble you'd have to divide it up and freeze it.

Fortunately, Lady allergies are mostly inhaled, not food.
