I got on just now fine as I usually log on through a different server to that same chat network.
It's probably just the prison.net server that's having issues at the moment. You can try on that status page where you saw that error message, type or copy/paste in (then hit ENTER, of course):
/server irc.easynews.com -j #yorkietalk
