It breaks my heart everytime I see something on the news or on YT boards about Puppy Mills and how the poor animals are treated.
I have never owned a dog before as an adult (had one as a child, it was my Fathers dog). I am so thankful for the education, it will help me in the future when I get another dog and more importantly it helps me with SophieKate (the Puppy Mill puppy). When I found out where the people who rehomed her bought her I made my Vet aware - together with my Vet we are making sure SophieKate is happy, healthy and hopefully has no long term effects of where she was born. |
I am so glad to hear that you have her now! I had a similar experience with a little MinPin that we rescued. We raise Yorkies, but my sister found out that a co-worker had this little Min Pin and they had no clue what they were doing - had it crated almost 24-7 and the poor thing was starved for attention. We brought her in, socialized her, and attempted to potty train her. We re-homed her to a lovely gentleman in Florida, and she is finally getting the love and attention she deserves. : ) The "breeder" that was listed on her papers was no where to be found, disconnected phone number, etc. But, she is happy and healthy and you'd never know that she was so neglected the first 4 months of her life.
I talk to all of our new owners every now and then to check up on their Yorkies - how could someone bring a puppy in to this world and just basically throw it away?
