I tried leaving the door open but found poop around the room and one night I even found just smudges of poop and her face full of it so now I am freaked out that if I leave her on her own to wander during the night she will start this habit.

I wonder also if its too quite at night because in the day when she is sleeping I always have the tv on or the radio so even if I am at the computer she always hears noise or voices. Should I have something on during the night? I am a light sleeper dont know if it will affect me but I would be willing to try.

I think I am getting her into a habit. As for the letting her cry and not giving in, I've considered it but then I always worry what if she really has to go??? The majority of the time she doesn't but sometimes she does.
that is THE hardest part- how do you know? Well take her out before bed- and let her cry if that is waht she is going to do- If she wakes you again in a few hours crying- wait for a pause in the crying- take her out to pee and put her back in- chances are she is not going to have to get up TWICE during the night- she might be up early - like 5-6 am but once from 11 pm to 5 am i think is normal since she isn't getting water at night- so after you have been up once with her at night- let her cry.
